About the event

CELEBRATE ALL THINGS KROFFT, INCLUDING PUFNSTUF’S ANNIVERSARY! On September 6, 1969, the world was introduced to the series H.R. PufnStuf and with it, the zany genius of brothers Sid and Marty Krofft! In the decades that followed, Sid & Marty continued to innovate TV, films, live shows and even theme parks with their signature style of puppetry, visuals and storytelling.

Join us on September 4th to witness Sid Krofft's honorary initiation into The LA Breakfast Club! We’ll then join Sid & Vintage LA’s Alison Martino on a rollicking discussion about the beloved projects that define his groundbreaking career.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER: Sid Krofft is the co-creator of a slew of 1970s children's programming regarded as both beloved childhood memories and the height of psychedelic camp, Sid Krofft and his brother Marty co-produced such eye-popping, live-action shows as H.R. Pufnstuf (NBC, 1969-1971), Sigmund and the Sea Monsters (NBC, 1973-75) and Land of the Lost (NBC, 1974-77).

By the mid-1970s, the Kroffts' success with children led to primetime, where they brought their fanciful sensibilities to Donny and Marie (ABC, 1976-79). In subsequent decades, the Kroffts would repackage their library for new audiences, while holding onto their core audience of nostalgic Gen Xers who still fondly remembered their candy-colored fantasy worlds as a weekly trip to a happier, if occasionally stranger, place.

Sid is very active on Instagram with his account @sidkrofft and currently has over 55K followers! Tune in on Sundays at 3pm PT for 'Sundays with Sid', his popular Instagram show, where he spends the afternoon with other creative luminaries. Sid will not be able to give autographs on Wednesday morning, but is happy to take photos with you!

ABOUT THE MODERATOR: Alison Martino is a Los Angeles-based television producer, an on air-news reporter for Spectrum News Channel 1, columnist for Los Angeles Magazine and lifelong resident of the city. Martino’s affection for Los Angeles led her to create the wildly popular Vintage Los Angeles (VLA)— an ever growing photo-centric Facebook page dedicated to highlighting L.A.’s physical transformation during the 20th Century, as well as its history as the center of the entertainment industry and community.

ABOUT THE CLUB: Founded in 1925, the Los Angeles Breakfast Club still thrives with food, friendship, and fun. Our meetings are held in our clubhouse, Friendship Auditorium, located at 3201 Riverside Drive, near the corner of Los Feliz Boulevard, in Griffith Park.
